The Sylomer® material is a special PUR elastomer which has many fields of use in construction technology and the machine tool industry in its cellular and compact form. In most cases Sylomer® is used as pressure-loaded springs. The properties of the spring can be extensively adapted to the respective construction, construction methods and demands by the targeted selection of the Sylomer® type, contact area and height.
Sealing elements
In addition, the elastic isolation of technical installations and machines used in buildings reduces the radiation of secondary airborne sound over ceilings and walls. This measure effects a considerable reduction in noise pollution in buildings containing numerous installations such as, for example, schools, hospitals, hotels and production facilities.
Diagram 1 shows the isolation of a complete building. The bearing system can be laminar, in the form of bearing strips or even individual bearing points. The most favourable bearing system and the point at which the building is isolated depends on the constructive conditions and the required tuned frequency. Normally the elastic isolation is arranged in the foundation area or directly beneath the cellar ceiling. Diagram 2 shows Sylomer® bearing strips fitted beneath a cellar ceiling. A decisive factor in establishing the bearing system dimensions is the stress present at this point and the required tuning frequency. In doing so different Sylomer® types which vary locally can be used according to the loads involved. In the case of a constant bearing thickness and a comparable, specific loading for all bearings, the spring deflection is the same. As a rule, excitement is effected by underground, tram or rail tracks located nearby. If it is not possible to carry out measures to the track, the building can be protected effectively against the onset of vibrations by an elastic bearing system.

Machines, the bearing systems of which have to be tuned to depth frequency or which produce high levels of dynamic forces, are normally positioned on supplementary support bodies such as, for example, a machine base or foundation. Sylomer® and Sylodyn® materials are used for active insulation from vibration (protection of the surrounding area) or for passive insulation (protection of the machine).
Machines produce vibration. This vibration is transmitted to the surroundings and can influence the manufacturing processes of other machines and thus the quality of the products. Vibrations disturb the immediate neighbourhood and the environment and cause damage to buildings. Sylomer® und Sylodyn® are materials which effectively reduce vibration and structure-borne noise. Depending on requirements, they can be supplied in various densities, material thickness and dimensions. The static loading capability of these materials lies within the range of 0.005 N/mm2 – 3.0 N/mm2 (0.5 t/m2 - 300 t/m2). Static and dynamic product properties are precisely defined. The effectiveness of the elastic bearing system can therefore be calculated in advance. A characteristic possibility of use is as a direct bearing system (complete area cover, in the form of strips or as a point bearing system) for machines using Sylomer® and Sylodyn®.

Sylodamp® is a micro-cellular high-tech PUR elastomer with the characteristic property of being able to absorb and soften shock loadings. In contrast both to Sylodyn® and also Slyomer® (the two PUR materials with spring properties), Getzner thus now also supplies a high-tech foam with exceptional absorption characteristics. In the plain language of physics this means that the absorption properties of Sylodamp® characterised by losses (approx. 0.6 in accordance with ISO 10846-2, depending on material type) and repercussion elasticity (8 to 20% in accordance with DIN 53512, depending on material type)

Sylodyn® for dynamic high performance: a material which is almost equally “gentle” both in dynamic and static terms.
Sylodyn® is a new kind of cellular PUR elastomer with excellent dynamic properties: static and dynamic E-modules are almost equal. Its low tendency to creep under static and dynamic loads, as well as an extremely low pressure distortion residue even at high temperatures, make Sylodyn® a material suitable for challenging solutions to vibration problems. Sylodyn® products are produced in a density range of 300 kg/m³ to 1,000kg/m³.
